Jack Rakove talked about his book Revolutionaries: A New History of the Invention of America (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2010), which explores how the nation came to be and why the idea of America endures. In his book Professor Rakove tells the stories of America’s Founding Fathers before they became fully formed leaders, as individuals whose lives were radically altered by the events of the mid-1770s. He was joined in conversation by Professor Beeman, vice-chair of the Distinguished Scholars Panel of the National Constitution Center at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Professor Rakove also responded to questions from members of the audience. close
