Iranian dissidents talked about humans rights violations by the Iranian government in the year since Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad re-election for a second term. Topics included governmental hacking of opposition web sites, attacks against women and other activists, the number of people still in jail following the previous year’s protests, and improving Internet access. Following their remarks they responded to audience members' questions.

This program was the first of four Democracy Council panel discussions on the re-election of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on June 12, 2009, which sparked weeks of protests and violent clashes between dissidents and police. close
