The Last Stand
National Book Award winner Nathaniel Philbrick, recounts the Battle of Little Bighorn that took place at Little Bighorn River in Central Montana on June 25, 1876. The conflict between the U.S. Army’s 7th Cavalry led by Lt. Col. George Custer and several of the Lakota Sioux, Arapaho, and Cheyenne tribes led by Sitting Bull resulted in the death of General Custer and saw his forces severely defeated.
