Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke presented to the committee the Federal Reserve Board’s semiannual report on monetary policy. He said that the nation’s economy needed continued stimulus spending in the short term, but that Congress also needed to devise a plan to curtail budget deficits in the long run. close
