Ari Berman recalls how the Democratic Party won the 2008 presidency and both houses of Congress. The author explores Howard Dean’s decisions as chairman of the party and how Barack Obama’s presidential campaign followed the “fifty-state strategy” and attempted to make the Democratic Party more inclusive. Mr. Berman also presents his thoughts on the current state of the Democratic Party, nearly two years removed from the election, and reports on intra-party fissures and legislative gridlock. Ari Berman discussed his book at the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas. close
