The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights held a meeting on a report about the Justice Department’s handling of a voter intimidation case against members of the New Black Panther Party. Democratic members of the commission did not attend, so the commission did not vote on the report. Commissioner Todd Gaziano accused the Justice Department of stonewalling the commission’s investigation. Commissioner Kirsanow, who participated by phone, made the same accusation against the Justice Department but also said that fellow commission members were also trying to stop the investigation by not showing up to make a quorum. close
