The National Park Service and the U.S. Navy held a joint memorial ceremony commemorating the 69th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. The ceremony also dedicated the new Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, formerly known as the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center. Assistant Secretary Strickland made the keynote address. The ceremony included colors, the national anthem sung by Jim Nabors, taps, a “missing man” fly over, honors rendered by the USS Chafee, prayers, and the laying of wreaths by Pearl Harbor survivors. close
