Senator John Kerry talked about the relationship between U.S. domestic policy challenges and its global influence. In his remarks Senator Kerry said he hoped the January 8, 2011, shooting in Tucson, Arizona of Representative Gabrielle Giffords and 19 others would change the tone in Congress on debates over energy, the deficit, infrastructure, and other issues. He also said partisan gridlock is hurting U.S. ability to compete in the global economy. close
