Defense Department officials announced the department’s plan for implementing the repeal of its “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy on gays and lesbians serving in the military. The plan consisted of a three-step process before the repeal law would be implemented, including finalizing changes in regulations and policies and getting a clearer definition on benefits.

They also responded to questions from reporters, including questions about anti-government protests in Egypt. close
