The House debated certain portions of extending the USA PATRIOT Act. The provisions would continue wiretap surveillance of suspects using multiple communications sources and terrorists not connected to groups. Another provision would allow federal authorities to seek court orders for anything deemed related to a terrorist investigation. The House fell short of the votes needed to pass the extension. close
