The Panic Virus Seth Mnookin looks at the fraudulent 1998 study by British researcher Andrew Wakefield linking childhood vaccinations to autism. The Wakefield report has led to a movement in the U.S. - fueled by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Jenny McCarthy - to stop vaccinating children, which Mr. Mnookin says is a troubling development. Mr. Mnookin also argues that this focus on vaccinations has diverted money away from important autism research. He spoke at the University of Wisconsin in Madison as part of a series called Authors@HSLC (Health Sciences Learning Center). close
