Joao Vale de Almeid talked about the European Union (EU) adopting additional restrictive measures against Libya following the United Nations Security Council’s decision to impose economic sanctions against the country. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The EU’s measures included banning the supply of arms and ammunition as well as prohibiting trade with Libya in equipment which might be used for repression. The EU also enacted a visa ban on Moammar Qadhafi and some of his family and a freeze on his assets. close
