A ceremony was held to mark the 150th anniversary of the Congressional Medal of Honor. The chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and representatives of each service talked about the history of the medal and changes to its design in each branch. A set of the newly minted gold and silver commemorative coins were presented for the Hall of Heroes.

The Medal of Honor was established by an Act of Congress signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln in December 1861. This ceremony in the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes was held on National Medal of Honor Day, March 25th. close
