The special inspectors general for reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Department of Defense inspector general testified on the effectiveness of past and current recommendations on reform, fraud, waste, and abuse in wartime contracting. Among the issues addressed in the hearing were a report being released later in the day from Herbert Richardson’s SIGAR’s office on the Afghan police, disbarments of wartime contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and specific examples of fraud, waste, and abuse. Dennis Blair used large colored photos to show supplies and food that were damaged by contractors). All of the panelists agreed that there should be more follow-up the commission’s work in the coming year by Congress after the commission releases its report in July 2011. close
