Freelance video journalist David Axe, on his fourth trip to Afghanistan in March 2011, was embedded with the U.S. Army in Logar Province, south of Kabul. He joined troops on patrols of local villages and on a mission to clear roads of improvised explosive devices (IED), and talked with U.S. military commanders about security in Logar Province and the status of U.S. training of the Afghan army and police. He also recorded his experience while inside a military vehicle after it struck an IED.
