This film documents the first flight of a space shuttle. Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-1) was launched on April 12, 1981, from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The footage highlights liftoff, the onboard activities of astronauts John Young and Robert Crippen, including a television transmission, as well as the landing in Rogers Dry Lake bed at Edwards Air Force Base in California on April 14, 1981.
