Julius Genachowski announced that the Federal Communications Commission would consider rules to protect telephone customers from unauthorized phone bill charges, known as “cramming.” He also said that the FCC would release a consumer tip sheet on cramming that “explores new ways to empower consumers and protect Americans against cramming and mystery fees.” He later said that only 1 in 20 consumers notice these cramming charges on their phone bills. close
