President Obama spoke to reporters about the release of unemployment statistics for June 2011. The unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent, up from 9.1 percent in May. in his remarks the president said that Congress has the opportunity to help create jobs by taking a few steps, including passing free trade agreements currently under consideration. He also said that the ongoing debt negotiations have the opportunity to help stabilize the economy. close
