Representative LaTourette (R-OH) spoke to reporters and answered questions about a partial shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after Congress failed to pass re-authorization legislation prior to the August recess. He disputed Democratic member claims that Republicans were “hostage takers,” noting Speaker Boehner’s offer of a clean bill. He also called Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s comments at a White House press briefing “vulgar.”
