Kent Masterson Brown talked about the military career of John M. Porter (1839-1898) who served in the Ninth Kentucky Calvary under John Hunt Morgan, the “Thunderbolt of the Confederacy,” during the Civil War. Mr. Porter penned detailed remembrances of his service following the end of the war.

Mr. Brown is the editor of One of Morgan’s Men: Memoirs of Lieutenant John M. Porter of the Ninth Kentucky Cavalry. He was interviewed at the Hunt-Morgan House, the family home of Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, in Lexington.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) on their “2011 LCV Cities Tour” were in Frankfort, Kentucky, on March 28-31 and August 1-3, 2011, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Frankfort Plant Board local cable affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed.
