A panel discussion was held to commemorate the 91st anniversary of the certification on August 26, 1920, of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that gave women the right to vote. The panelists discussed the National Woman’s Party’s (NWP) use of persuasive language and imagery to secure suffrage. They showed examples of political cartoons and the banners carried in suffrage parades and during the NWP’s pickets in front of the Whites House. They also responded to questions from members of the audience. Ms. Harrington moderated.
