President Obama made remarks on the death of former Libyan head of state Moammar Qadhafi. Saying “The dark shadow of tyranny has been lifted,” he praised the successful revolution, but called on Libyans to respect the human rights of all, “including those who have been detained.” He also recognized Americans who had been victims of the Qadhafi regime, and remarked on sweeping changes across the Arab world. close
