Defense Secretary Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Martin Dempsey held a news conference. Secretary Panetta talked about his department’s budget and potential cuts if the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction cannot reach an agreement. He also addressed the dumping of cremated body parts of some war veterans were dumped in landfills until 2008. Other topics included Iran’s nuclear program, jobs for returning veterans, the proposal that the National Guard become a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. close
