On September 7, 1964, at approximately 9:50 p.m. NBC ran an ad for the presidential election campaign of Lyndon Johnson. The advertisement, featuring a little girl plucking a daisy followed by images of nuclear destruction, became known as The Daisy Girl Ad, and is often cited as one of the most important campaign commercials ever created. Professor Robert Mann, author of the book Daisy Petals and Mushroom Clouds: LBJ, Barry Goldwater, and the Ad that Changed American Politics, was joined in discussion by the actress who portrayed the Daisy Girl and the commercial’s art director. The campaign commercial, originally called "Peace, Little Girl, and several other ads from the Johnson campaign were shown.
