Film historian Steven Ross presents a history of politics and the film industry. Mr. Ross examines the impact that Hollywood has played on the American political landscape and profiles several actors and studio heads from the ideological left and right, from Charlie Chaplin and Jane Fonda to Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Steven Ross discussed his book on a panel with Mike Farrell, author of Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor and Activist and Roger Simon, author of Turning Right at Hollywood and Vine: The Perils of Coming Out Conservative in Tinseltown. The panel was moderated by film critic Ella Taylor. After their discussion the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. The program was a presentation of “ALOUD at Central Library” by the Los Angeles Library Foundation in association with the Los Angeles Public Library. close
