Secretary Leon Panetta and General Martin Dempsey outlined the military’s fiscal 2013 budget request. The $525 billion package, with an additional request for $88.4 billion for overseas operations, mostly in Afghanistan was significantly lower than the previous year. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dempsey said the cuts were difficult but the budget reflected fiscal responsibility. close
