Curator Lisa Kathleen Graddy discussed the history of the tradition and how the exhibit portrays the shifting roles of first lady in United States history and how various first ladies dealt with the role. She talked about the styles and contributions of first ladies including Lucy Hayes, Edith Roosevelt, Dolley Madison, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Nancy Reagan. Ms. Graddy discussed how selections were made for the exhibit and how it was organized.
