A book party was held at the Jefferson Hotel for the publication of Shooting from the Lip: The Life of Senator Al Simpson, written by Donald Hardy. Senator Simpson was shown mingling with the guests. Then Mr. Hardy, Senator Simpson’s former press secretary and chief of staff, talked about writing the book and the total access that he had to Senator Simpson’s papers. Senator Simpson also talked about the book and about his life. He told stories about the author, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, and about some of the guests, including former Vice President and Mrs. Cheney, former Secretary Mineta, Librarian of Congress Billington, and Representative Dingell. close
