The Bipartisan Policy Center paid tribute to “A Century of Service” by two of the center’s founders. From military service to careers in elected office, the combined public service of former Senators Howard Baker and Bob Dole totaled more than a century. Vice President Biden, Senate Majority Leader Reid, Senate Minority Leader McConnell, and former Senate Majority Leaders Daschle, Frist and Lott spoke about their careers and spirit of bipartisanship. A video message from President Clinton was played and two short films highlighting the lives and careers of Senators Dole and Baker were played with Senator Roberts leading the audience in song. At the end of the program Senators Baker and Dole spoke from their seats as their image was projected on a large screen. close
