Jay Carney briefed reporters and answered questions. He said President Obama “believes that women should be allowed membership” at the historically men-only golf club in Georgia. The Augusta National Golf, where the Masters golf tournament was being held, only accepts male members. The chief executive of one of the tournament’s 2012 corporate sponsors, IBM, is a woman. Other topics included the signing of the Jobs Act, and the president’s comments on the Supreme Court questioning the constitutionality of the 2010 health care law.
