Covering America: A Narrative History of a Nation's Journalism
Christopher Daly recounts 300 years of reportage in the United States. Professor Daly examines the current arguments that journalism is in danger and points to the numerous obstacles that the news industry has faced throughout its history, which, according to the author, has presented reporters with opportunities to create innovative ways to collect and distribute the news. Christopher Daly was interviewed by Nicholas Lemann on topics including the legacy of Joseph Pulitzer and the meaning of the First Amendment. He also responded to questions from members of the audience at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City. close
