The Federal Reserve has always been removed from federal politics so that it would not influence the economy to manipulate voters. Supporters argued that more visibility, especially with trillions of dollars at stake, is a good thing. Dissenters argued that the auditing power is a slippery slope and could lead to Congress’s corrupting influence over the Fed. close
