Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke spoke to teachers at a town-hall meeting on the topic of financial education, including personal finances. He took questions by video from K-12 and post-secondary educators of economics, personal finance, and related disciplines gathered at Federal Reserve Bank offices across the country. Chairman Bernanke said student loan debt does not pose the same threat to the financial system that mortgage debt did during the 2008 crisis. He also urged state and local governments to maintain funding for education in general. close
