The program concluded with a live view of preparations for the Republican National Convention in the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Thomas Whalen discussed the history of the national conventions. He discussed famous and inspirational past conventions, how they have changed over the years, and whether or not they still matter. Professor Whalen also gave his forecast for what the 2012 national conventions would be like and discussed the different ways the media have made their presence known at the national conventions. Professor Whalen participated by video link from Boston University. Viewer questions were taken via telephone and electronic devices.
