University of Missouri history professor John Bullion spoke to students about the debt incurred by the British government in fighting the Seven Years' War in the 1750s and 60s, and efforts to recoup some of that cost by taxing the American colonies, including the Stamp Act of 1765. That law required that some printed material in the colonies such as legal documents be on paper produced in England and have a revenue stamp. He answered questions from students during the lecture. close
