Participants spoke about trade relations with Russia and proposals for a Permanent Normal Trade Relationship (PNTR) as a means to improve American businesses and the economy. They responded to questions from the audience. Congress will consider the PNTR legislation along with the Magnitsky bill that addresses the death of Sergei Magnitsky and deny visas to Russian officials accused of human rights violations. Sergei Magnitsky was arrested for exposing government corruption and died while in prison. The passage of this legislation is harshly criticized by the Kremlin and could hurt relations between the two countries. close
