Middle East experts from a variety of perspectives talked about violent anti-U.S. demonstrations in Egypt, Libya and Yemen. Three days earlier U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya. They discussed the demonstrations in relation to upheaval in the Middle East since spring 2011, possible U.S. responses, the need for better understanding of the complexities of the region by U.S. leaders, and the underlying causes of the demonstrations. The program included questions from audience members. close
