Following a press conference by other Democratic senators, Sen. Pryor remained to issue a statement on Republican campaign references to the state of Arkansas. He took offense at a reference that President Bush made to a state “located somewhere between Texas and Oklahoma.” He used two color maps to point out the location of Arkansas. He also objected to a statement, “Thank God for Arkansas,” made in the Senate by an unnamed senator. This statement was stricken from the Congressional Record, but Sen. Pryor said he reviewed it on the tape. Had he been on the floor at the time, he said, he might have objected it as a violation Rule XIX of the Senate. close
