The Supreme Court and Eminent Domain
Richard Epstein is the author of Takings: Private Property and the Power of Eminent Domain. In his book he argues that eminent domain has been interpreted too narrowly by the courts. He says that the courts had forced the government to compensate a citizen when his land is taken to build a post office, but not when its value is diminished by a comprehensive zoning ordinance. He also responded to questions from the audience. close
