Economic and political scholars talked about the economy and the “fiscal cliff,” the tax increases and budget cuts impending at the end of 2012 if Congress failed to reach a new budget agreement. They explained three options: 1) do nothing and let tax cuts expire 2) agree to a “grand bargain” 3) do nothing drastic and take time to make the right decision. All agreed not harming the economy took priority over reducing the budget deficit and national debt. A PowerPoint presentation was included. They also answered questions from audience members.
