Defense policy experts talked about military budget cuts required as part of the Budget Control Act of 2011, and the fiscal cliff. The across-the-board cuts, also called "sequestration, were to go into effect if Congress failed to reach a new budget agreement by the end of 2012. Topics included shifting power back to the civilian force, removing outdated military programs such as nuclear weapons and tanks, and the impact of military spending on the economy. They answered questions from audience members at the end of the program.
