Mohammed Ghanem and Ilhan Tanir, who had both recently been in Damascus and Aleppo, talked about the future of Syria and their experiences in Syria beyond media coverage of the country’s civil war. Both called for more U.S. involvement, such as arms for rebels and ground engagement with local councils beginning to set up governments for when the Assad regime falls.
