President Obama spoke at an interfaith vigil for families of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. The shooting claimed 26 victims, including 20 children aged six and seven. In his remarks to local citizens at Sandy Point High School, President Obama read aloud the names of the victims, called on the nation to do more to prevent gun violence, and pledged the full power of the presidency in addressing the issue. During portions of the remarks muffled reaction from families in the auditorium could be heard. close
