House Speaker Boehner made a brief statement about his “Plan B” proposal to avoid impending “fiscal cliff” tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012. The bill would raise income taxes on those making $1 million a year or more, and addressed the estate tax, investment income, and the alternative minimum tax. He said that President Obama’s latest offer of revenue increases and spending cuts was not balanced and that he hoped the president would get serious soon in working with Republicans on a balanced proposal to avert the “fiscal cliff.” He did not respond to the reporters. close
