Former Boston Globe correspondents Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill talked about their book, Whitey: The Life of America’s Most Notorious Mob Boss, in which they recount the life of Boston gangster turned FBI informant James “Whitey” Bulger. The authors' report on Bulger’s criminal beginnings in the “Southie” neighborhood of Boston and his later operation of a crime syndicate the he ran while under the employ of the FBI. Bugler eventually fled Boston and went into hiding; he was arrested in 2011 in Santa Monica, California and currently awaits trail on nineteen charges of murder. They also responded to questions from the audience at Porter Square Books in Cambridge, Massachusetts. close
