Bless Me, Ultima Rudolfo Anaya talked about his book, Bless Me, Ultima, in which he writes about his Chicano heritage and the role his grandmother played in his life as a healer, curing illnesses with herbs and magic. The book is required reading in New Mexico public schools, but has been banned in some parts of Arizona and Colorado because of its positive depiction of the pagan rituals his grandmother practiced.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Albuquerque, New Mexico to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
