Panelists talked about the future of public service. Topics included obstacles to public service, the impact of hyper-partisanship on young people’s attitudes toward holding public office, a draft system, and how government gridlock affects federal appointees and nominees. The panelists took questions from audience members, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Obstacles to Public Service at the State and Federal Levels” was part of the first of a series of “National Conversations on American Unity.” It was the inaugural event of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Commission on Political Reform, held at the Ronald Reagan Library in partnership with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and USA Today. close
