United Nations Security Council President Viitaly Churkin spoke about the adoption of a Security Council resolution imposing new sanctions on North Korea for their February 12, 2013 nuclear missile test. The United Nations Security Council voted for tougher sanctions. The unanimous vote by the 15-member council included North Korea’s closest ally, China. The resolution restricts North Korea from financing and obtaining technology for its nuclear weapons programs.
