Richard Trumka, talked about immigration issues and the effect of low-and high-income workers from other countries on American workers. He said the AFL-CIO was concerned that these workers might be paid a new lower wage that could in turn lower the wages of American workers. He also reacted to President Obama’s suggestion to raise the minimum wage to $9 an hour, which the AFL-CIO believes is still too low. He commented on President Obama’s nomination of Thomas Perez for labor secretary. close
