Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Martin Dempsey, and Undersecretary Robert Hale testified about the president’s fiscal year 2014 defense budget request. It includes almost $527 billion in discretionary spending, nearly a 1 percent decrease over FY 2013. Topics included military acquisitions, ship/helicopter programs, East Coast missile interceptor sites, cyber security, military sexual assault, electronic health record integration spending, and funding for National Guard programs in New York and Florida.
